While almost everybody has heard of Banksy, no one knows the real identity of this famous graffiti artist. Some consider him a mere prankster, while others hail him as an artistic genius; however, no one can deny his popularity. In 2010, Time magazine selected the British artist for its list of The 100 Most Influential People in the World, joining the ranks of Barack Obama, Steve Jobs, and Lady Gaga. His work has sold for millions.
Banksy has the unique ability to express strong political statements with poetry, energy, and humor with an unnerving ability to get to the heart of the subject matter. The Art of Banksy features more than 155 of the artist’s works — Original Artworks, Prints on different kinds of materials, photos, sculptures, installations, murals, and more. Some of his works are carefully reproduced with his stencil technique, especially for the exhibition. A video documentary gives visitors insights into his life and work.

I had the good fortune to attend the "Art of Banksy - Without Limits" with these lovely ladies. The show was as inspiring as I had hoped it would be with lots of new surprises and old favorites I was hoping to meet in person. What I love most about Banksy is the way he gets you to recognize the absurdity in so many things we consider ordinary and "normal". I highly recommend this show.
Live and In-Person!!
Starting Thursday, January 6, 2022, I will be hosting small group classes at my home studio in Plantation.
The introductory class will meet every Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. No experience is required and this group will be limited to 6 people. For the first month, I will introduce confidence-building drawing and watercolor techniques.
(Just one space left for the month of January) Please let me know if you would like it or be placed on the waitlist.
A second class for artists with some experience and comfort with their materials will meet every Thursday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This class will move at a slightly faster pace than my evening class and is perfect for those of you with a bit of experience, who are ready for a little more challenge, or if you prefer doing more of your "own thing".
Whether your goal is to improve in drawing, portraiture, composition, watercolor, oil, or acrylic, the experience will be enjoyable and fun. You will feel nurtured and supported as you develop your ability to visually express your innermost world. You will benefit from the collegial group atmosphere and peer input on your artwork and ideas.
Everyone in our group class will be working on something different which may include different media, different subject matter, different goals, and different skill levels. Each week we will begin class with feedback on work accomplished and you will have the opportunity to articulate your intentions, successes, and failures.
The second half of the class will be devoted to supervised art creation and skill building with instant feedback and guidance. You will feel nurtured and supported as you grow. There will be weekly prompts, guided lessons on technique, exercises, and reflections.
Since everyone will be working independently, materials are not included.
