Testimonials:
From Parents & Students
Thank you for an amazing year and for being an incredible teacher! I am the artist I am today because of everything you’ve taught me. Thank you for always having patience with me and being passionate about art. Thank you for everything! - Angela (student)
Thank you so much for these past few years. You truly had such a strong and positive influence on not only my artistic journey. But also my leadership abilities. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to be the best I could be. I’ll forever be grateful for you! - Sabrina (Student - Wellesley)
Thank you so much for all the help you’ve given me. My time at AHS was rough but the education I was able to receive here makes it all worth it to me. Without the things you’ve helped me learn I wouldn’t be heading in the direction, I am today. You’re the best art teacher I could have asked for. Sarah (Student - MICA)
Thank you for everything, especially for being a talented, caring teacher. Not sure I could do that. David (Parent)
You’re my inspiration. I wouldn’t be the artist I am today without you. I know sometimes I am not always on task but in my heart, I work every day to be the artist and person you believe I can become. Thank you for what you’ve done for me and my family. I really appreciate it all. Thank you for putting up with my stupidity and craziness. I am glad I had you all 4 years of high school. - Sarah (Student - Harvard)
Thank you again so much for the past two years and for teaching me so much about art and theory. Have a great summer and please stay safe! Alexandra ( Student - Honors College)
I just want to let you know that even though you’ve only been my teacher for one semester, my art skills have drastically improved because of you. When you made us write our goals for your class at the beginning of the semester, I didn’t really have high hopes, but from what I can remember of what I wrote, you helped me make progress on all of these goals. Thank you so much for that! I’m so lucky I got the chance to work with you as an art teacher Rachel (Student)
Thank you so much for your kind email and for your recognition of [our daughter]'s work in your Painting 2 Honors Program. Your thoughtful words were very touching to me. My husband and I are so appreciative of all that you have done to support and inspire her on her creative journey. Kristy (Parent)
Wow! I know it has been an honor for the students to learn from you all these years. The artwork that they have created is amazing. We will miss you and we wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your life's journey. Veronica (Administrator)
Thank you for all that you do for me and for my fellow students and for always directing me in my art endeavors!! I’m hopeful that next year we can get back into the studio and continue to work together. Best regards, Kira (student)
Susan is a wonderful teacher and colleague. She continues to learn and research to improve her
skills and thus, improve the skills of her students. Susan is a vital part of our Fine Arts Department,
and I cannot bear to think what it will be like without her. Johnpaul (Administrator)
I am grateful for having you guide me for the past 3 years, and have learned and grown so much because of you. You have always pushed me to be better, and I appreciate your constant support and encouragement. It's an honor to receive this award, and your words were so kind and nice to hear. Thank you! Alyssa (Student)
You have had a huge impact on [our daughter] personally and with her artistic skills. She has advanced to incredible heights under your inspiration and tutorial. AHS has lost a real asset that will be hard to replace. Gary (Parent)
You are so sweet. I've loved being a part of your class for so many years and learning about watercolor from the best! Flora (Student - Yale)
You have definitely inspired me and I would love to come back to your art classes. :) - Sarah (student)
I had a great time working on art in class and I know it's a big challenge to have the class online. But so far it seems to be going well! Again, thank you for all the help no matter in class or outside of the class. Hope to see you soon in the future! - Fredericka (student)
I took Mrs Foltz’s classes for three years, and in those years, Mrs. Foltz made an important impact on my life. Mrs. Foltz allowed me to explore my passion for art and taught me about living an artistic life. Mrs. Foltz’s unwavering support throughout those years gave me the ability to do things I did not think I was capable of doing. I really appreciate everything Mrs. Foltz has done for me and believe I am where I am today because of her. Sunny (Student -Stanford) [Foltz is my former name]
Thank you so much for teaching our kids!
You bring the best out of them.
Thank you for the nice email, you have made us happy.
Have a wonderful day!
Looking forward to seeing you at school very soon.
Regards,
Arpitha (parent)
I apologize if I have put off the attitude that I am lazy and do not care for this class, as it is genuinely one of the best classes I’ve taken in my life and have learned so much despite the stress. I understand that I can be a difficult student and I genuinely appreciate the hard work you’re putting in to support seniors. This has been one of my favorite school years art wise and you have played a large role in that. I know I am far from a star student, participation and work-wise, but your support has pushed me to finish this school year strong despite some personal circumstances. Thank you. Dan (Student - Hartford)
Well as much as I am thrilled for you that retirement is just around the corner, I am so sorry for the juniors in your school. You, my dear, are a superb teacher. Your student's portfolios are amazing. Such a testament to their incredible teacher. Go into the next phase of your life knowing that you inspired young artists and truly helped their development. Kudos to you!!!!! Alison (AP Studio Art Teacher/Trainer)
Thank you, Mrs. Convery! I am very happy that I have had the chance to have you as a teacher for so many years. Gauri (Student)
Thank you for making my daughter so inspired and passionate in painting.
When we were looking for a school years ago, and we were on the school tour, we entered into your classroom, and [my daughter] said "This is my school because I will be painting here one day". Maria (Parent)
Ms. Convery has been a guiding figure for me in art and does not let me get away with anything. She is always there to help me grow and pushes me to always reach further and further in my achievements. I try to soak up everything I can for this class and come to class every day ready and prepared for the next 45 minutes of learning and making art. Kira (Student).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! This truly means so much coming from you. I know I struggled in Drawing 2 last semester, but your tough love and devotion to art encouraged me to want to give painting my all. You’re also definitely right that teaching us through a screen is much more difficult on both ends, but at least I am learning how to keep a balanced painting schedule at home (which is definitely good since I want to develop my portfolio this summer). Since I feel I’m making progress with our Still Life Project, I’ll make sure to work on finishing the Master Copy this weekend. Thank you again for everything, especially putting up with all my questions this year, and see you in class Tuesday! Have a great weekend :) - Dani (Student)
We are moved by your beautiful words. Thank you so much for sharing your feelings. [Our daughter] learned so much from you, you have a huge part in her life. She tells me and I can see that you always pushed her to the next level, always for the better. Thank you for being you and it is an honor to have you as [our daughter]’s teacher and her mentor. Ela (Parent)
I thought I would give you my artwork “Fruit Picnic” because it was the first piece you helped me on. I don’t think I ever thanked you for helping me and teaching me to turn my art pieces into masterpieces. Thank you so much! Continue encouraging your students to pursue their futures and happiness, itself. I miss you and I’ll always remember you and your teachings. - Ethan (Student - Broward)
Thank you so much for being such a great teacher this year. I can’t believe how many things I’ve learned in your class. Thanks to you now I feel confident about myself. I have learned that even though I wasn’t born an expert artist nor a child prodigy you are never too old to learn something new. I’m already super-excited about next year. Thank you so much. Riko (Student)
Thank you so much for everything you have taught me over the past 3 years. I truly have no idea what I would be doing today if I had never taken your art classes. Not only are you an amazing teacher, but you are also a truly amazing person and are very kind. I’m not sure I could have made it to the end of high school if I had never gotten the chance to go to your class 3 times a day! I hope I can visit you in the years to come when I come back from Europe. Thank you - Elodie (Student)
Guild Presentations:
Thank you so much for coming to our guild last night. That was a treasure trove of really important information that I too often don't consider when I jump into a painting. If you could send me a copy of your slide show I could review it each time I find myself wondering what was going wrong... lol Thank you again! Susan (Guild member)
Great art demo! I enjoyed your presentation tonight and would love to receive your slide show. Thank you Kay (Guild member)
It was a pleasure meeting you on Monday at the Guild meeting. You were very informative. If you would not mind sending me a copy of the presentation. Also we spoke about my interest in taking some private art lessons when you are ready this summer so please keep me in mind. Thank you! Martha (Guild Member)
